Why participants can't see a section or activity
Why participants can’t see a section or activity
A participant reports that they cannot see a section, module, or activity in your program. Several settings control what content is visible and when — here is how to track down the issue.
Possible causes
1. The program is not published
Programs start in draft mode. While a program is in draft, only admins can see its contents — participants see nothing.
How to fix it:
- Open the program from your sidebar.
- Check the program status at the top of the space settings. If it says Draft, the program has not been published yet.
- Publish the program when you are ready for participants to access it.
See Publish your program for a full walkthrough.
2. The section release date has not arrived yet
Each section in the Coaching & Learning app can have a scheduled release date and time. Until that date, participants see a countdown timer instead of the content. The release time is based on the timezone set in your Coaching & Learning app settings (or your organization timezone as a fallback).
How to fix it:
- Open the Coaching & Learning app in the affected program.
- Open the app settings and check the Release Date & Time for each section.
- If the release date is in the future, participants will not see the content until that date passes. Adjust the date if you want to release it sooner.
See Schedule content releases for more details.
3. Module prerequisites have not been met
Modules can have required modules — other modules that must be completed first. If a participant has not finished a required module, the dependent module appears locked.
How to fix it:
- Open the section containing the module in question.
- Edit the module and check whether Required modules enabled is turned on.
- If prerequisites are set, the participant needs to complete those modules first. You can also remove or change the prerequisites if the restriction is not intentional.
4. The participant is not enrolled in the program
Participants must be added as members of a program to see any of its content. If someone has access to your organization but is not a member of a specific program, that program’s content will be invisible to them.
How to fix it:
- Open the program and check its member list.
- If the participant is missing, add them manually or send them an invitation that includes this program.
- If you use offers for enrollment, confirm the participant completed the checkout or registration process.
See Invite participants for instructions.
5. The event or content is scoped to a specific group
Events support visibility settings that restrict who can see them. An event can be visible to all space members, specific groups, or specific users. If a participant is not in the right group, the event will not appear for them.
How to fix it:
- Open the event or content item and check its visibility settings.
- If it is set to Specific groups or Specific users, verify the participant belongs to the correct group or is in the user list.
- Adjust the visibility to All space members if everyone should see it, or add the participant to the appropriate group.
