View your program as a participant
View As lets you see upcoach exactly as one of your participants sees it — same sidebar, same content, same locked sections. It’s the fastest way to answer “why can’t they see this?” without asking them to share their screen.
Before you begin
- You need to be an Admin in the organization.
- View As only works for users with the Client role. You cannot view as another admin.
- Sessions open in a new browser tab so you can keep your admin view open in the original tab.
Start a View As session
There are three places to start a session. Pick whichever one you’re already close to.
From the Users list
- Open Admin Area > Users from the sidebar.
- Find the participant in the list. The Role column shows Client.
- Click the three-dot menu at the end of the row.
- Select View As.
A new tab opens signed in as that participant.
From a participant’s profile
Click a participant’s name anywhere in upcoach to open their profile in the side panel. At the bottom of the panel, a View As [First Name] button appears for Client-role users. Click it to open a new tab in their view.
From an offer’s enrollments
If you want to check what someone sees right after they enrolled:
- Open the offer from your sidebar.
- Go to the Overview tab.
- In the enrollments table, hover the Private Spaces cell for a participant.
- Click the eye icon labeled View as client.
The new tab lands directly in the private space they were granted access to, so you can confirm their enrollment worked.
What you see in View As mode
A bar pinned to the top of every page confirms you’re in View As mode:
- You’re viewing as: [Name] — with the participant’s avatar.
- Switch — open a dropdown to jump to a different participant without leaving the session.
- Exit view mode — end the session and return to your admin account.
Everything else matches what the participant sees: the sidebar only shows programs they’re in, locked sections stay locked, release dates still apply, and they don’t see admin-only settings or the Admin Area.
Switch to a different participant
Click Switch in the top bar. A search box appears with a list of clients in your organization.
- Type a name or email to filter the list.
- Click a participant to switch the session to them.
- The page reloads in their view.
You can only switch to other Client-role users. Admins are filtered out.
Keep track of active sessions
Each browser tab runs its own View As session, and sessions stay active until you exit or revoke them.
When you reload upcoach in a tab that already has a View As session elsewhere, a prompt shows:
You have active View As sessions — Continue viewing as a client or proceed as admin.
From the prompt you can:
- Select a session to continue in this tab.
- View as Admin (normal mode) to keep working as yourself.
- Hover a session and click the × to revoke that specific participant’s sessions across all tabs.
- Click Revoke All Sessions to end every active View As session at once.
If another tab revokes your session while you’re using it, a Session Ended dialog appears and the page reloads as your admin account.
Exit View As
Click Exit view mode in the top bar. The tab reloads to your admin account automatically.
Simply closing the tab leaves the session record active. The next time you open upcoach, the active sessions prompt will let you continue it or revoke it.
When to use View As
View As is the right tool when:
- A participant says a section, module, or event isn’t showing up and you want to confirm.
- You want to verify enrollment or space access after a checkout.
- You’re reviewing release dates, prerequisites, or group visibility before publishing a program.
- You’re recording a walkthrough that should show the participant experience.
